Craaaazieness

Workin today was insane... walked/ran back and forth between 2 hotel properties that I work at grabbing gear to run a show in one of the hotels no less than 3 times ( about 1.6km ea round trip). 2 hours b4 showtime at this function (40th anniversary of the hotel itself) the funniest thing happened. Some guys were assembling ice sculputures in the shape of Xmas trees on round banquet tables. Now for those of u who don't know... not all banquet tables are created equal... and these were the runts of the lot... flimsy, barely welded tablelegs... 2 cm thick tabletops... u gettin da picture? So after the hard working gentlemen had loaded 6 pieces of 40 lb ice sculpture pieces onto said weakling table... VIOLA... CRASH... and down came the table w/ the ice Xmas tree shattering into lil itty bitty pieces all over the carpet. U cudda walked a stripper butt naked into the ballroom at that moment and no one wudda looked at all; everyone was that shocked (but we had an "ice muse" later ... that was another story...). So needless to say this show was gettin off to a rough start. For our part, we were short on floor lights to light up the room in different colors. Our "desired" finish time for the entire AV set was 3:30 pm for the 5 pm show (bars opened outside in foyer at 4:30 pm and the ballroom open to show our handiwork at 5). I was running between hotels for the 2nd of 3 times at 4:10 pm getting adapter cables (u-ground to stage pin 4 those of u in the know) for the 10 lights that had just been delivered at 4pm for this show. We barely got done and out of the room by 4:57 pm for this 5pm show.... it was that close and that frantic if u could imagine. All this coming after my 16 hr shift yesterday (5.5 hrs here, 5 hrs at 2nd hotel in downtown and 5.5 hrs in the hotel out by the airport 30 min away by car) w/ only 5 hrs sleep last nite. I think I'm goin home in 10 min and then goin to bed so I can get up for my easy 8 hr shift tomorrow. Gonna be a fun week...

Had a bit of time to kill today Pyx so I was sniffing out info on christmast-tree for a project I'm working on. Your post Craaaazieness came up when I searched on christmast-tree. So thanks for an interesting read, glad I found it even though it's not completely related to what I was looking for! I'll look back from time to time if that's OK. Bye for now
